The attack on our democracy and the Capitol in Washington, DC was not a surprise to me. Perhaps it caught many of you off guard or at least not believing what your eyes were seeing and your ears hearing. I am reminded of the riots after the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., not incited by a sitting president, but driven by anger, hurt, pain and a sense of hopelessness and justice denied. How are you processing what happened in America on Wednesday, January 6, 2021? Words have power and that includes the words we choose to use during this time in history.

2 Timothy 1:7
New International Version [NIV]

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

On Sunday I want to encourage you amid all that is and has happened to remain vigilant, prayerful, and assured that God is present with us. We have the power, love, and self-discipline to persevere, to keep our heads up and our eyes focused on the one that created us and empowered us to be the “word.”

See you Sunday!
