Our Worship

We invite you to come to our 11am service, as you are, wherever you may find yourself on your journey of faith. All are welcome. No condemnation here. Our worship style is contemporary and features lively contemporary music. The sermons are informal and relevant, addressing the issues you face in your everyday life. There is also opportunity to offer prayers for personal concerns in your life, our community and our world. Dress is California casual.

3Our worship includes:

  • Singing. Our music is contemporary and vibrant, including many different styles. We are blessed with a fabulous Worship Music Leadership Team including, Mark Abulencia – pianist, Priscilla Medina – vocalist, Deb Nishimura – percussion, and occasionally an ensemble or soloist.
  • Celebrating our coming together as God’s people in what we call Community Time. During this time, we welcome one another into this vibrant community of God’s people and share our Celebrations and Thanksgivings – the blessings for which we are thankful, and the places where God has touched our lives.
  • Listening for the Word of God through the reading of Scripture, and listening for the way in which God’s Word becomes real and relevant for us through some of the most creative and best preaching you’ve ever heard. That’s a promise!
  • Praying. Our Prayer Time is an open time when everyone has the opportunity to offer their prayers of thanksgiving as well as prayers of concern for those with special needs or circumstances. We pray for ourselves, our loved ones, our neighbors and all the people of the world.
  • Sending forth. We are sent forth with God’s Blessing, to be the eyes, and hands, and heart of God in the world.

We celebrate two Sacraments: Communion and Baptism.
At West Hollywood Church, Communion really is the joyful celebration of the new life God offers us through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

5Everyone is graciously invited to receive the Sacrament of Communion. This Sacrament is for each and every one of us, including children of all ages. Through this Sacrament, God’s LOVE and God’s GRACE are freely offered to each and all of us. In the breaking of the Bread and the partaking of the Cup, together, we share in Christ’s feast of new LIFE.

We celebrate the Sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of the month or on Special Sundays of the church year such as the first Sunday of Advent, the First Sunday of Lent, Easter Day, and the Day of Pentecost.
Baptism is the sacrament through which we are named and welcomed into the family of faith as a beloved child of God; no matter what our age.

Children and Youth
Children and youth are greatly valued and celebrated in our life and ministry. They are included in our worshipping community. At the time of the sermon, younger children (3 yrs old – 5th grade) are offered the opportunity to go over to the Social Hall for a Church School lesson that is interactive and age-appropriate. Towards the end of the service our kids rejoin us for the Prayers, the Blessings, and the Sending Forth.
