Shalom! I’m Rabbi Pearl Barlev. As we approach Thanksgiving, cooking our feasts and counting our blessings, I would like to share this reflection on some meanings that the word “Thanksgiving” can hold. Pardes literally translates from the Hebrew as orchard. Some say that the word itself not only sounds like, but also refers to the idea of Paradise. Others say it refers to the delight of the fruits of nuance and meaning found there. In Jewish tradition Pardes is a four-part acronym for understanding layers of a concept or word. Here are four fruits or reflections on Thanksgiving based on possibilities for spiritual nourishment in this orchard, Pardes. irs problems homely.
