March 7, 2010: Traffic Advisory – Academy Awards

Avoid Hollywood & Highland!

Just a reminder that this Sunday is the Hollywood festival of St. Oscar!  Due to folks gathering for the Academy Awards, Hollywood and Highland will be closed as will the Highland exit off the Hollywood Freeway.

It’s always easier to avoid traffic than to get stuck in it!  So here are a few suggestions:

From the Valley, we suggest using Laurel Canyon or one of the Hollywood Freeway exits south of Highland.  (Cahuenga, Vine, Argyle, Gower).  If Sunset Blvd is congested, go down to Fountain or Santa Monica Blvd.  See below:

From Los Feliz and Hollywood, Sunset is often congested when Hollywood Blvd is closed, so it is sometimes easier to come west on Fountain Ave or Santa Monica Blvd.  If you are going west on Santa Monica Blvd, turn right on GARDNER (or FAIRFAX) and go north to Sunset.  Then turn Right on Sunset to the Church.

The church is located at the corner of Sunset Blvd. and Martel Ave.  Here’s a map.

Thankfully, it is pretty easy to avoid the congestion around the Academy Awards! It’s just easier to avoid traffic than to get stuck in it!
