March 7, 2010: A Prayer for the people of Chile, Taiwan & Haiti:

Posted on : Mar 5th, 2010 | By | Category: Special Events

Holy God, bless the efforts of those involved in search and rescue operations. Give strength and courage to those who may still be trapped. Bring comfort to those who have been displaced or lost loved ones.  Bring peace to those whose lives have been shaken to the core and hope to those who fear they have lost all they have.  Amen.

“God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in times of trouble.

Therefore we will not fear,

Though the earth should change,

Though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;

Though its waters roar and foam,

Though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Be still and know that I am God.”  (Psalm 46)

Once again, WE ARE PRESENT

As Chile recovers from the devastating 8.8 earthquake and tsunami, our love and concern is there with them through aid and emergency supplies.  These gifts to the people affected by the earthquakes in Chile, as well as Haiti and if needed, Taiwan, come from us.   Whenever a natural disaster occurs most anywhere in the world, we are there – PRESENT with those who are suffering.  Our PRESENCE IS POSSIBLE because of the gifts we give through our annual One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.

Again this year, our One Great Hour of Sharing Offering will be received on Palm Sunday, March 28.  Half of our offering is designated for three national programs administered by the Presbyterian Church:  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, The Presbyterian Hunger Program and The Self Development of People Program.

During Lent, if you wish to offer your change for major Change in our world, we have coin offering banks available for your additional gifts.  You can get one on Sunday.
