Worship Theme:

“Compassion is to Have the Heart of God”

Centro Romero’s Safe House for Sex-Trafficked Girls

Our guest speakers will be:

Rev. Carlos Correa Bernier, Executive Director of Centro Romero, Two Board Members from Centro Romero and Rev. Dan Romero, our former UCC Conference Minister, after whom Centro Romero (the Romero Center) is named.

One of the ministries of Centro Romero is a “Safe House” for Sex-Trafficked women. Even though it is for women, in reality it is for girls. The ages of the residents range from 9 years old to 17.  Carlos, Dan Romero and two Board members from Centro Romero will be telling the story of these girls’ lives and what we are doing to offer them a new beginning. This is one fabulous ministry! BTW, five women from our church visited the Safe House during our February Mission Trip to Mexico and we gave over $500 from our One Great Hour of Sharing Offering to this ministry.

 ~ This Sunday’s Scripture ~

Matthew 25: 31-45

Jesus tells a parable about “how God judges us.”

When the Christ returns in glory, all the nations will be gathered before the Christ, who will separate them from one another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, placing the sheep on the right, but the goats on the left. Then the Ruler will say to those on the right, “Come, O blessed of God my Father and Mother, inherit the realm prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Then the righteous will answer, “Sovereign, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” And the Ruler will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my sisters and brothers, you did it to me.”

Then the Ruler will say to those on the left, “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and the devil’s angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.” Then they also will answer, “Sovereign, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you?” Then the Ruler will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.”
