9/2/18 – Free People

Posted on : Aug 30th, 2018 | By | Category: This Sunday's Service

Pastor Dan just finished a summer series on “Bad Boys and Bad Girls of the Bible.”  Surely all those people he discussed were the epitome of “dysfunctional families.”  Thank God, I’m not the only one, right!  And neither are you.  Sunday I will introduce you to a great Lutheran theologian who gives a talk called “Forgiveness is badass”.  We will hear from Aretha and meditate to “Hallelujah.”  What do these things have in common?  Come and find out!  We will talk about carrying around bitter blame, giving a place in our lives for such feelings, and how accepting the love and grace of God can give us strength to break the ties of blame, hate and bitterness (often contained in dysfunctional families).  The celebration of communion gives us the strength of God.  The gift of grace and forgiveness from God is free and can be FREEING.  Hopefully this piques your interest and you will come and be part of the conversation Sunday morning.  By the way, Red Vines will also be involved.

Blessings,

Lisa Bove

John 1: 1-5

In the beginning was the Word.

And the Word was with God,

     and the Word Was God.

In the Word was LIFE,

and the Life was the LIGHT of all.

This Light shines in the darkness,

And the darkness has not overcome it.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.

Ephesians 4:31-32

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
