9/1/19 – Spiritual Care with Very Sick Kids

Posted on : Aug 29th, 2019 | By | Category: This Sunday's Service

This Sunday we welcome Rev. Janie Ito as our worship leader.  (Dan is on vacation.)

Janie is in a four-way Ministry Covenant with our Church.  In the United Church of Christ, we recognize a variety of pastoral ministries.  Each minister serving beyond a local church must be in a Covenant Relationship with a church that values and validates that person’s ministry.  We are honored to have Rev. Janie Ito and Rev. Lisa Bove as ministry partners of our church.  Janie is a chaplain at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Janie engages in a ministry of spiritual care with children who are very ill, as well as with their families and the hospital staff.  Caring for children who are very ill is a unique calling.  This Sunday, Janie is going to share with you some stories from her ministry and how she in a ministry partnership with our church, reaches out and cares for kids, parents and staff in times of celebration and great sadness.  You won’t want to miss her!

Blessings,

Dan

Mark 10:13-15

Then they brought little children to Jesus, that Jesus might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.  When Jesus saw this, he was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the realm of God.   In all truthfulness, I say to you, whoever does not receive the realm of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
