10/28/18 – A Mission Trip to Guatemala changes my life

Posted on : Oct 25th, 2018 | By | Category: This Sunday's Service

This Sunday we welcome Rev. Lorraine Ceniceros as our guest minister.  Lorraine is the manager of Spiritual Care at St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica.  A few weeks ago she participated in an 8 day Providence Surgical Mission Trip to Guatemala. The trip and her experiences with the local Guatemalan people are the inspiration for her sermon.

Lorraine was our guest minister two years ago for our retreat Sunday.   I know you will be blessed with her message!  Please warmly welcome her.

Mark 10:46-52

Jesus restores sight to a man who was born blind.

They came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, the man born blind began to shout out and say, “Jesus, Child of David, have mercy on me!”  Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Child of David, have mercy on me!”  Jesus stood still and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.”  So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.  Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.”  Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
