We are back in the Sanctuary at 11am on Sunday Mornings!!!! Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide the worship experience on zoom, but it is our hope to record on the church Facebook page. You can access the service live streamed from the sanctuary at https://www.facebook.com/WestHollywoodUCC. If you are not able to attend worship in person, we ask for your patience and understanding as we do our best to link to our FB page.

Greetings Sisters and Brothers and Siblings,

Thank you for your beautiful Christmas cards with pictures of your families, and summaries of your adventures in 2021. Thank you for every gift, email and text sent to Patrisha and I, wishing us well and sending us greetings for the holiday season. We are blessed to be with you on this spiritual journey.

2022 is here and waiting for no one! Are you ready for the showers of blessings that are coming your way in 2022? As we prepare for 2022, I encourage you to prepare for transitions in your life! Change is inevitable! Shifting our thinking, changing our vocabulary, and envisioning our future is essential as we prepare for 2022.

This past year was challenging for many of us. The local, state and national news was and is full of negative news, especially regarding the COVID virus and its mutations, but we remain hopeful and anticipate change with great expectations. How do we get through the days and weeks ahead that appear to be laced with anxiety, fear and uncertainty about the future?

First of all, we must make sound and rational decisions and then set attainable goals. Author and speaker Anthony Robbins reminds us that “our decisions, not the condition of our lives, determine our destiny.”  The Bible puts it this way: Hebrews 11:1-2 [Message translation]11 1-2 “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.”

As Disciples of Christ, I believe you and I have a destiny and purpose that was set before the foundation of the world, by our creator. The road map is not always obvious; therefore, the journey is a walk of faith! It is this Trust in God that that the Epistle to the Hebrews is talking about.

Setting goals requires the ability to see the possible and impossible dreams. As people of faith, we know that all things are possible with God! Remember, whenever the spirit of God reveals direction, goals and objectives, they ultimately benefit others, not just ourselves.

This year, make it your business to make decisions and make them often. I encourage you to prayerfully move forward, do not procrastinate or put off your dreams and visions. Practice being joyful more often than not; appreciate the little things in life and take nothing for granted. Trust God and God’s pleasure for your life! Easier said than done? Yes! It takes practice! It is a spiritual discipline.

Today, decide to walk in your purpose and to create a legacy that makes a true difference in lives of others. 2022 is here! Happy New Year!!!!
